sailing the seas of cheese

wow so september 25th huh? i apologize all over myself to myself for myself...in myself.

well the silence has been golden actually. my new apt. is MUCH more compatible.

Also, across the street is a huge warehouse where a few of the mardi gras floats are being made.

Halloween was awesome. Frenchman st. in the Marigny was out of control. The streets were ass to crotches the entire night. I lost my group nearly 40 minutes into the night and thanks to the tendency for New Orleans streets to end and begin randomly at different locations i was unable to find them. I did however, run into some more friends and resumed the festivities. Amazingly, i didn't get my first drink until 1:30 am (i'll let you imagine what the bars were like to produce that result) however, new orleans doesn't go to sleep so there was plenty of time to play catch up...and i did...like van damme gettin his ass whooped for 30 minutes only to charge back and quadruple kick some gorilla sized asian to death.

there is no documentation of this.

The bad news was i was not able to take Burgess home with me since he is not built for 2. I had to abandon him in the marigny and take a cab which was probably best b/c when i started getting uneasy about the direction the cab was taking i started spouting directions that were 180 degrees wrong. God knows where me and Burgess would have ended up.

Then there is a funny story about how i returned for burgess and believed him to be stolen. He was not. I found him a couple weeks later. That story is not nearly as entertaining.

Thanksgiving was awesome. My roommates best friend came over with her boyfriend who is a chef at Vincent's on St. Charles...ever been? K well i had all the staples i was craving: green bean casserole, stuffing and cranberry sauce, "taters... what's taters?" and gravy, apple pie, carrot cake etc... Oh and i guess i shouldn't forget the 4 bottles of wine, bottle of jack, powers whiskey, baileys, and vodka and the 2 cases of beer. Yes there were 4 of us.

Work has been (as i knock feverishly on wood) really nice. My job is unbelievably easy and they pay me for it. Who knew.

Glad to see you all enjoying the holidays. I am hoping to get back that way sometime soon...maybe new years?? I am however carless, so i will likely take the train to atlanta which would require me employing a recon team to retrieve me from the atlanta jungle. I will have more or less information on that matter in the future.

Anyways i got the Secret of Nimh in the mail today so i'll be snuggling up and enjoying this fine piece of animation history. Excuse me, Mrs. Frisby needs my help.

i have arrived.

yes. i made it to the boob tube. i was interviewed for the channel 6 news yesterday about theft on magazine street. i saw the clip on the website this morning but i have no idea how to find it. i think they probably took it down, and just as well cuz i sounded like a tool.

on the upside though, 2 young ladies came in looking for the "cute manager" before i got to work. i plan to wring out as much juice from this ever so small bit of notoriety as possible even if there isn't much more than a moist towelette.

on the downsidish, i got a call from LA corporate office right after i got to work. Communications dept. had already heard about the 10 second blip and was calling to inform me of the proper procedures for handling the media. I was terrified, but the lady was nice and said i handled myself well. I just needed to contact her office first before doing anything else like that in the future.

big brother watcheth.

let me clear my throat.

my god yes it has been a month. my diligence has tried and failed.

for posterity and expedience i will try to touch on topics w/o elaboration. any further questioning can be addressed to me directly since you all have my phone number and/or email.

1.) Pop fest. SOOOO worth the trip back to athens. I had an amazing time and was immensely rejuvenated by all your shining familiar faces.

2.) Car crash. I totalled my car after about a week of having it in new orleans. I have redoubled my efforts to turn my turkey legs into some avian legs of even greater girth.

3.) Work. Still goin good. I have received bonuses for July and August for exceptional sales. They were sweating us back in May and June but i had to flex for em. I am still working on getting a staff that i am satisfied with. Have only given one "youre fired" speech and need to give 2 or 3 more, but all in due time.

4.) Play. I am still anxiously awaiting fall league for ultimate but until then a couple of my frisbee buddies have seduced me with the call of touch football league. Also, as a result i have rediscovered pro football now that i have a home team i enjoy rooting for. The falcons never did it for me. Vick was always a douche.

5.) i want this bike. Tell me if you agree.

slideshow funness.

hesitant anxiety

Well i'll be in good ole athens come this time next week. I'm definitely looking forward to my first official popfest after years of missing "da plane". I am also looking forward to a little bit of travelling for my summer wanderlust. I believe the 8 or 9 hour drive will definitely satisfay that craving for a while.

I am a little hesitant however. The circumstances on my departure were a little weird involving a few people in town and im dreading any awkward run ins. People that i know/knew intimately and to some extent more so than their own friends and family have become more or less ghosts of my memories. It's been such a short time but the spanse seems like years. Time and memory seem to take on much different relations to my experience when im living as opposed to being alive.

One of these such "strangers" has recently requested a very unexpected favor of me. The nature of which i could have never predicted and to be completely honest a part of me feels like i was "the last option". On one hand i feel it would be not only burdensome, probably inappropriate considering our current relationship status, and awkward. On the other, i do feel somewhat obligated and to a fair degree, happy to do this favor.

I've obviously made no decision and will likely go back and forth on it before hammering something to the wall and using my trusty "yes" and "no" dart, i'll settle things decidedly.

In lighter news: i have gained 5 pounds. I don't know if i've mentioned this already however my swelling pride at such news has made me blurt it out randomly every few minutes. It has made conversations awkward on more than one occasion. They can't seem to grasp the weight (HAHA) of the situation. SO yes currently i have broken 130 pounds and upgraded my chicken legs to turkey legs. The arms still resemble angel hair, but an old lady that came into the store gave me a pitiable spaghetti arm compliment so who knows.

you were my boy blue!

well it was a bittersweet weekend.

i started things off leaving friday night through some HELLACIOUS weather to go to Ft. Walton for my mom's family reunion. on the way i called to find out their room number and found out my family dog Trouble had died earlier that day. he was about 17 so his days had been long and fruitful. he wasn't in any serious pain but had bad arthritis. for a dog his age he was in pretty good shape. my mom said she just let him outside that morning and found him dead under his favorite shady spot in the back yard. you could only wish we all died so peacefully.

ft. walton was nice. i got to see a cousin of mine i had not seen for nearly 10 years and his now 4 yr old son julian. they live on a remote island in hawaii in a grass hut. i can not stress to you how literal i am being when i say that. it is a pretty enviable life though i must admit other than the 10 dollars a gallon for milk.

i left the beach and headed back home late sat. night b/c i had my ultimate tourny at 9 am sund. morning. i was not prepared. we played 3 games in the morning from 9 til 1:30ish then broke for lunch. we lost 2 and won 1 during our first portion. not so hot. we ate lunch at an awesome lebonese spot called mona's for lunch then hit the fields at 4 for the last 3 games. all in all, we basically sucked. we have some awesome players and some weak links. i brought my D game (defense) and shut down any chance of deep threats. made some nice interceptions and blocks however i threw a couple away on offense. we were flustered since things just couldn't come together with a few of the players.

every game we lost was pretty close though. story of our season. basically we would work to tie it up or get a lead and then it would get blown. anyways, short story long after a day of ultimate we all went to get trashed on free beer at St. Roch's Tavern. I was already sailing my ship out to sea since we were out of the tournament by late afternoon and i began drinking asap. i ended up eating bbq chicken pizza (first chicken in about 3 years i guess) which gave me some glorious poopage the next day.

all in all, it was an awesome time. my team while lacking in wins, brings a serious lush factor to the table. we always had a good time. im already buying new cleats for the fall league and plan to blow this shit wide open.

this time next year i will have a 60 yard hammer throw with laser guided precision.

My friend

We are the champions. Well not quite. Our tournament isnt until the 22nd of July, BUT we got our first regular season win tonight. Once again it was a brutal point for point game. Their stacking system for creating teams is remarkable efficient. We have yet to have a game (at least for us) that was more than 2pts spread. We play to 15 and each score is 1. We generally play for 2 hours so it's pretty rigorous.

Anyways we effin got the Dubya and it feels so nice.

Wound updates: Uncle Flow made another appearance tonight. A couple teammates expressed their jealousy at my having such a handsome strawberry that i get to show off every week with the crimson rivers running down my leg. Also, unrelated to ultimate, i bruised a rib. Unremarkable story attached to that injury, but this shit freaking HURTS. It's not a terribly bad one, but i can't take deep breaths or yell without it feeling like someone is jamming a broom handle into my rib cage.

Also FYI I am an otter.

That is all.

Glorious Food

Well i finally got my claws into some good ole farmers market grub. I got the tip from one of my ultimate league players as we got hammered after 4 hours of midseason ultimate play previously mentioned. They had everything. My fave picks were A) the dairy: the creamiest milk and butter i've ever had the joy of clenching in my cheeks B) general produce: HUGE peppers (3 for 1$ greens and 3 for 2$ reddies muy loco!), squash, zucchini, egglplants, okra etc... and C) SEAFOOD! shrimp for ::drumroll:: 2 bucks a pound. i regrettably had run out of cash by the time i got to the seafood table, but i'll be back on saturday. they run it on tuesday and saturday both within biking distance...le sigh. :D They even had worms for starting your own compost and crepes made to order. I'll probably take some pics next time of the local "color" that comes out at 8 am to the market.

Also, tomorrow begins the second half of our ultimate season. Despite the midseason tourney blowout our team has done very poorly in the regular season. Tomorrow with your good wishes and my new wristbands our team will let loose an ass kicking worthy of a LA rioter's nod of approval.

Uncle Flow

Uncle Flow
Uncle Flow,
originally uploaded by brent.buckelew.
Week two of my strawberry. I reopened this little nasty two more times during this weeks play. I decided to give it a name since it will apparently be hanging around for the duration of the summer league. On a positive note my team won the middle season tournament last night. We were all firing on all pistons and make huge defensive and offensive plays. It got pretty ridiculous as basically every other play involved at least one of our team fully laid out flying through the air to either bat away or snag a disc. Much fun...and then the whole tournament group biked over to kingpin and got drunk. Tra lala.

Today im enjoying 1) healthy relaxing bowel movements 2) mango, strawberry, and banana smoothies 3) reading in the sun. No special order.

Effin Hot

Well it's basically full blown summer down here. It feels like someone greets you at the door with a 30lb wool blanket everytime you step outside. I love it. Basically every pair of pants i own is gradually being assimilated into my growing shorts collection.

Weird point of note: ALL bars in new orleans have hookahs. I didn't believe this when i heard it, but the more i look around the more i see them popping up in every establishment i go to. Goth bars, Dive bars, Trendy bars, Sports bars...it makes no sense yet i freaking love it. I bought some new attachments for my own hookah. It looks like smokey sex now. Believe me i've thought twice about it.

Speaking of bars my new fave joints are in no particular order: Attiki bar and grill (still), The Saint (cool dog friendly dive), The Balcony Bar (cheap sleazy food and pool with an awesome jukebox), and Mrs Mae's (i have no description for this 24hr joint).

I'm still digging my job. I have emailed Dov Charney about a possible American Apparel in athens. He said they are working diligently to get the stores in the atlanta and savannah (yes savannah) area stabilized then they are hoping to bring one to athens. So be on the lookout for pictures of models barely wearing our clothes in the sometime probably far off future.

Here is a quick reel of June events. Sorry about the blurriness of the Audobon Park pics but i was on my bike taking shots just to see how that worked out for me.

Much Love to all my athenians especially the ones that are a year older. Also, equal congratulations to both of the leggetts on remembering the day that they began filing joint tax returns. Hooray :D

I was interested in living with other people when i came here b/c i thought it would be a good way to meet folks, but this city has been very inviting. Meeting people of similar interests is a lot easier than i thought. I look forward to moving out on my own probably in the winter when the lease here is up. I just miss being on my ownsome lonesome.

you're a daisy if you do...

For any animation/action/blacksploitation fans out there holla at cha boi!! Where 'yat!?

Link was busted. All better.

NKOTB

Yesterday was my first regular season game of the ultimate league im in. I'm on the yellow team, aka lynsey's latin lovers, aka pot o' gold. We lost a heartbreaker 15-14. However we went point for point with arguably the best team in the league. Our biggest hurdles were not having enough subs. The other team had a pretty fresh squad on the field at all times while we huffed and puffed. The other problem was inexperience...namely my inexperience. I was able to score a couple times but i also got burned a few times. I left some epidermis from my elbow and knees on the grass as my marks of shame. My team got a lot of enjoyment from me laying out so much though.

Afterwards, i was instructed to head to the kingpin which was thankfully a bike ride from my house. There i found out what the players do after dehydrating themselves from rigorous activity. They get shitty. Apparently there are 2 bars very friendly to the ultimate crowd and this was one of them. They set aside a keg for the players and first come first served...free beer.

SO...today i hurt. My head, my queezy stomach, my aching legs and open wounds. So today i laid low, made some kick ass barberitos guacamole, and watched "History Boys". It was .. interesting, but worth the watch.

I also got a call from Geoff. It seems the hamburger touchdown has landed. Virginia Calliope Carr was born yesterday after 17 hours of labor. I hope to landing in Georgia either for the 4th and all the celebrations therein or perhaps the weekend or 2 after that. My banking is all kinds of screwed up since the closest wachovia is in mississippi and the checks my company issues are bank of america which ALSO has no branches in New orleans. Its very tangled.

Anyways, from one NKOTB to another NKOTB, we got the right stuff, little miss carr.

state of the crescent union

Ive been pretty busy with work which has turned out to be a pretty pleasurable distraction. So far american apparel has proven to be a pretty enjoyable employer. on top of my stores independence i get to take elby into work with me. he prefers green since he is technically a red head.

I've also been getting out a little bit lately. I went to the circle bar's last mod dance party a week ago and had a blast. They played awesome 60's mod all night in an awesome shit hole of a bar. I had to leave when the girl i was dancing with started making out with this other dude and simultaneously grabbing my ass and crotch. I was just too drunk to do the math involved with that equation so i just packed up and left. Oddly though the people who threw the dance party contacted me via myspace asking if i was the guy dancing next to the turn tables. I told them i was and they thanked me for coming out and for "dancing up a storm" and told me i should come out the following friday night for the bar's actual last night party which coincidentally was last night.

It was equally enjoyable. I must say it is weird but i feel a real sense of loss for this bar. I guess when things this unique pass it leaves a hole in people or a community. I have been seeking out all the uniqueness i can though. I'm still taking in a sampling of the local flavors in order to provide better service as a "local guide" should any of you folks show up in town. Lately my thumbs up go to "the artsy cafe" (phenomenal sandwiches and very cool shop...its called the freckin artsy cafe), "La Divina" italian gilatto/panini shop that has own composting and all "to go" items are made from compostable dextrose products, "Luna Cafe" just a very cool cafe in a huge old antebellum house, "Attiki Bar and Grill" they serve a unique mixing of New Orleans staples and Mediterranean dishes at a very reasonable price (especially for new orleans) and they have hookah!, and of course ye olde "Circle Bar" and mod dance party....we barely knew ye.

Also, i developed my camera from jazz fest and along with it a few other old disposable cameras that had been lugged around for years that i had no clue what was on them. Enjoy :)

The fancy pants were only by request. I normally wouldn't have just given it away like that.

Finally i have to make a confession to the world, i am HPV Positive. Current home remedies i am using involve duct tape and compound w. I have resisted my instinctual urge to bite them off which has worked semi effectively in the past. Any suggestions from the viewers at home? If you were curious i have 2. One is named Horatio Monteblanc and the other is Apocalypse Now.

P.S. i have some video ill be posting here from the bands at the festival but my connection kinda sucks so ill need some time set aside for uploading.

i want his uhn tiss uhn tiss uhn tiss

must uhn tiss this week.

calling all sickly fashionistas

Well i guess i am entering the high stakes world of trend setting. As of today i am going to be the new General Manager of the american apparel store here in new orleans. i'm gonna miss the late night delusional tromps at my current job, but i think it will be a nice change. my only concern is that, fancy pants aside, my fashion sense is quite dull. i think it's kinda like smokers that have poor taste buds. i believe masturbation has killed my fashion senses. i was always warned but i thought it was just an old wive's tale. sadly i was mistaken.

i think the only solution is to find someone to masturbate for me. so with that being said i will enlist all of you folks to pledge your "special time" to me. you can sign up in the comments section and list how many hours you plan to donate to me each month. if you all can fulfill my personal obligations of approximately 100 man hours/month then im sure my forward sense of trend setting fashion will return to me.

in related news i pulled my groin. luckily my fancy pants have doubled as an effective support wrap for my junk.

Repose

Well it's been a pretty relaxing week. I had off Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday but im headed back in for a weekend of work. I've spent the week chasing down craig's list deals of the day and keeping myself occupied with new diversions. Yesterday was slightly more event filled.

After picking up a wrought iron head and foot board for $15 and a cool little wooden bookshelf for $10 i biked down to magazine and had lunch and my first PBR in a long damn time, it struck me that my time in NOLA so far has felt a lot more like a vacation than anything. the weather is orgasmic right now with the highs in the 80's and a cool strong coastal breeze every day and night. i know it's gonna get stifling hot later on but for now it is amazing weather. also, thanks to some local geniuses who decided to populate all ponds, pools and other standing bodies of water with minnows, the mosquito population is MUCH less than i anticipated.

Yesterday i also went to my first game of goaltimate in preparation for the ultimate league i joined. For being my first game ever of goaltimate and my first time on the field in about 5 years i didn't do too bad. I scored in the first game and made a few interceptions. I was rubber legged after about 45 min's and when i found out they usually played for about 2.5 hours i gracefully bowed out to ensure i retained some mobility for today.

Also last night i had dinner cooked for me by new friend Huong. She is an account exec for the local alternative weekly The Gambit. It was a nice night. She made tilapia and mojitos and we watched 300 which i hadn't seen until then. Verrah nice. I like the man fighting verrah much. to clear the air up we are just friends. it's nice not having to deal with sexual tension and just have everyone on the same page. she is also using her resources at the gambit and her access to clients like the W hotel and Harrah's etc... to help me find more suitable employ.

Anyways i just finished watchingBreaking and Entering which was a pretty good flick. I hear my camera is coming soon so fancy pants pic will soon follow. Stay vigilant all!!

P.S. for those it might concern enjoy your mejican holiday. if you happen to fly anywhere near new orleans during your voyage don't do number 2.

that is all

Hong Kong Phooey

Well i have officially popped my French quarter cherry. I went downtown stag the other night. This bar called one eyed jacks was having Eighties Night and the urge was too great. I decided to use my new found night owl status to camp this place out until i had a good time. However, by the time i got there i decided it would be a "good" night if i got home with all my cash and no new holes in me. Needless to say, it was on a stretch of dark streets and i parked about 6 months away since i had little idea what was kosher parking spaces (i learned that lesson fast and am now a semi professional parker).

Anyways the bar was cool. It looked like a gutted theatre with 1 bar in the foyer and 1 larger bar in the "theatre seating" section running right down the middle. It had a small stage with a couple hotties doing their "im a hottie" dance on their respective "hottie stools" while the last unicorn played silently on the screen behind them. Eighties blasted and the typical throngs of folks stood on the "dance" floor. Emboldened by the lack of repercussion and the $1 high lifes i jumped on the floor and started goin apey. Soon enough the floor was jumping and the good times, as they say, began to roll.

It was a shot in the arm. I got to dance with a few lovely ladies and one stopped me to introduce herself. She earned the titular role in this blog post. Her name was Hong. Hong told me she was having a b'day coming up bbq, crawfish boil, dancing, swimming pool etc... and she basically told me she wanted me to attend and be the hotty on the stool. I met her friend Yasmine who was also a tasty strumpet. We hung out the rest of the night critiquing the DJ's selections and i talked them into driving me to my car in exchange for me hosting their "walk to the car" party.

My roommates made several jokes about messing around with a girl named Hong. It has quickly become the newest Tre chic verb at 4611. I suggest you start using it before your friends do.

Last night i went to Mimi's and had the most amazing thing ive ever eaten drunk. It was called mushroom meshega or something. I have no words to describe, but washing it all down with Duvel while a zydeco band played in the background (think flicker size) was nearly enough to make me urinate on ever passer by in a shear psychotic fit of ecstasy.

dopplegangers cont'd

i have eaten at the bluebird cafe a couple times since i moved here. it's a breakfast joint with really cool original art. soon as i get some cash im gonna buy a print of "over easy". it's this grisly looking egg snarling at you. the food is awesome and the wait staff is very gay. :) i think i caught one of the staff off guard. i was sitting at the bar so he wasn't waiting on me, but he kept tryin to spark up conversations with little interjections like "oh im so sorry baby" and gently touching my shoulder after he burped and then asking me what i was reading. so when he commented on my bag and said "that's a pretty big satchel you got there". I replied "why thank you" and conjured as charming a smile as i could w/o outright laughing. His eyes got real big and he just said "oh my" in his indoor voice and walked away. I'm sure he has something prepared for my next visit.

P.S. The trollies are up and running again!! I meant to take a picture with the disposable cam i bought for yazz fest, but i used em up too fast. The point is my presence in this city has single-handedly turned things around. I'll post news clippings singing my praises soon.

chutes are slippery when wet

do songs just fit like astrology forecasts? vaguely nebulous so that one size fits all. or does the universe use them to speak to us? ive listened to chutes too narrow a thousand times but it's never hit this close to home.

tonight is also my first night of work. 12 am until 8 am. i enjoy the distinct privilege of watching the sun rise over beautiful metairie every day. i just want to go to sleep. maybe ill pack a satchel full of alcohol, tobacco products and other various chemicals to unleash on the clinics "quitters". mainly, i just want an excuse to use a satchel.

expensivo

ive finally arrived. im obese with exhaustion. whole foods price tags are obese with numbers. my S is obese with the fog of war. i think ive decided to be the next american idol. ive also decided to try the exclamation "Great Horny Toads!!" out for a week just to test the waters. im goin to bed b/c it is obese with comfiness.

there and back again

This is such a dreamy feeling. Back home. The city i left 10 years ago and it has changed so little. I arrived into town yesterday evening and spent all day today looking for reliable and near free transportation. No luck. Tomorrow the search continues. We shall see.

Right now im sittin in a coffee shop to vampire some free internet to "research" cars and download some shitty porn. Alright nvm. Vista is not down with the porn plan so i guess im gonna have to steal a jc pennys catalog from somewhere.

Currently im revisiting the Bends and at this very momen im "high and dry". It's actually a pretty good state of being. The faces in this city though are eerie. The older i get the more im convinced that there are about 500,000 people in the world that are 99.999999999999999 % genetically identical. They look the same and talk the same. A world of dopplegangers and i have somehow convinced myself i am a unique observer. Until i meet myself and let loose the blood curdling scream and sink my fingers into his throat though im happy to believe in that truth.

I must be honest though. I cried leaving athens. It definitely wasnt the city. Well not really. There were many factors but obviously the people were the cause. Even sitting here listening to oddly enough now "fake plastic trees", i am misting up. I feel compelled to make some sort of mantra or shrine with a beach scene sunset in the background to remind myself to never ever ever take people for granted again. It tears me open inside to think of the times i just sat idly at home when people i loved were a phone call away. Lessons learned the hard way i suppose. But on that note i would like to extend my deepest sincerest thanks and eternal feelings toward the cherished people of athens that made that city worth staying in for a decade.

I know i'll see you all again. I just need a lil Big Easy for a while.

be done with it

it is finished. i have decided on a place. it is conveniently located on napoleon avenue and is currently home to 2 lovely ladies and their wascally dog olivia. it's a pretty nice pad that has been completely renovated. i will have my own room and bathroom and the house itself is fairly large so theres lots of room. elby and olivia (henceforth recognized as o-town) have a very nice backyard to share that is surrounded by privacy fencing and even comes equipped with a fire pit.

im pretty stoked to move into this place and am anxious to come back and retrieve my belongings. it still hasn't set in that i will seriously be leaving athens and will seriously be living in new orleans this time next week but seriously...for serious. in the middle of that sentence my new roomy eileen called me so as of right .... NOW ... it is official. they have been notified and graciously accepted so thats that.

i guess for a while until im more familiar with the city ill just give you and myself some around the town tips for what i have experienced and liked/disliked.

today for instance i dined at Theo's for lunch. It's a transmettish type restaurant for you athenians and for everyone else its a slightly higher brow pizza joint. better beer and wine selections, excellent sandwiches and specialty pizzas and other italian faves. my meal was 7 bucks for a really good sour dough veggie sandwich and hawaiian punch. i later added a blue moon draft to the tally which upped it another 4 bucks. not exactly athens prices but not that bad. all in all pretty good.

currently im eating at the delachaise which is a wine/tapas bar. im having the roasted red pepper bruschetta which has a smoky flavor very similar to hummus but with sweet red peppers and a spicy kick. i guess it has chick peas in it. they serve it with a plate full of veggies and fruit. i have a glass of sauvingon blanc with it. i chose this blanc from the others b/c it has the same name as the street ill be living on...Prieur. Both are actually pretty damn tasty. This meal is decidely more expensive than my sandwich, but im in the mood for rewards.

also of note this restaurant is here and theos is here. Both fall within the earthlink "feather" wireless bubble. so, thus far, i have enjoyed wireless internet basically everywhere i have been. i like.

well im going to return to my meal and start staring back at all the people looking at me typing furiously.

typing on the road will make you nauseous

The following took place on the trip to dothan on 4.24.07 before i left for nola. This precious tome was scribed in wordpad and retrieved for no one's pleasure.

Well my first stop on my way to the future and the year 2000!! is over. Montevallo is always an interesting pit stop. I definitely feel a nostalgia for college when i visit lynsey there. Mainly b/c it is such a different experience of school than i had. It's a very small town and school but at the same time it has its own intriguing uniqueness.

Lynsey is very close to the people in her program and even her teachers. I guess you wouldnt't be able to help that given the size of the school. It's only natural that you bond like that. Don't get me wrong i was lucky enough to find some people in athens that have changed me eternally and will hopefully always be in my life at least to some degree, but i didn't really mesh with anyone in my program.

I guess i was just bitter and withdrawn b/c of my misgivings about what i thought art school would be like and what it really was. Guess i should have taken art classes in high school so i would have realized the majority of my peers would be so only b/c they just didnt want to do anything else. Basically my art teachers were glorified babysitters for us. I digress...ed.

It was however a good trip. I got to meet some of lynseys friends. They were fun people. I would probably be inclined to quit watchin "wrasslin" on TV if given the opportunity to play drinking jinga with them...and i did too. Here* is my fortune from the purveyors of the local MSG eatery in Monty, and if you could see me stretching my hands across the spans of time you would know i have a hangover "this big".

We are almost home. Then i get to load all my junk into another car and enjoy the scenery of I-10 while i drive to New Orleans. Tomorrow i begin my apt. search in the crescent city and really start to feel the reality of this whole process take root. I'm pretty stoked about the promise of my first jazz fest too. It's been on my "to do" list since eric was down at school there, and finally my ass is in motion. I don't know how much momentum 125 pounds on a 6 ft frame has but i guess if i cant bowl over things in my concentrated surface area could just pierce them. Spiny elbows lead the charge.

*pic coming as soon as i get my camera back from my sister :(

1st night

i am staying at a european style hotel off of esplanade. it's my first night in nola, but technically im still looking for a place. i went by my new job today and got the tour and met everyone. it's a really nice bunch of people and my job will be super easy.

tonight im supposed to go meet some potential roomies and feel things out. they seem really cool over the phone and i havent really watched my p's or q's during email or phone chats with them so thats a good sign. I REALLY want to get into this cool 4 plex off of napoleon ave. In exchange for collecting tenants rents, keeping track of vacancies and supervising the maintenance guys i get a 1 bdrm suite for 275. it has off street parking and all appliances. plus the neighborhood is really nice and it's close to all kinds of shopping. PLEASE.

the people that run this little hotel im staying at are really cool too. they are a 4oish really hip couple that lost everything in the hurricane and are starting over at this place. they took me out for sushi and beer when i got here and then i drove them to a local spot called the "green project". its basically a recycling center for building materials...tile, doors, wood, electrical, plumbing, etc... it also has found and donated art work. its a really cool little business im sure i'll be visiting again soon.

the weather is awesome right now. strong cool breeze and saturated humidity. i constantly have that film of sweat that feels like i just stepped out of a swimming pool....and i fucking love it. also of note earthlink has sponsored free wireless internet in this city. so right now im comfortably sitting and typing underneath the wireless bubble here that is free for "citizens". shwing.

I might be ammending this later with tales of the night life or perhaps an update on my residency. For now im going to sit out on the balcony, read and enjoy my new city.

peace and chicken grease.

Dut Dut Dutut Dut Dut DutDut this just in...

i think i may have found my new place. it belongs to a jack russel named olivia. she is actually quite the hostess. details will follow.

that is all. back to your regularly scheduled humidity.

for those in "the know"

i actually did NOT misspell my ancient handle. for the purposes of this blog and the situations surrounding its inception i thought that wherd I go was more fitting.

that being said this will be the initial post of this brave new world. how long my blogging will last who knows, but for now it is my only voice.

as of now, im sitting in my sister's house searching through some more roommate listings. a running theme among 90 percent of these listings is "NO DRUGS and NO CRAZIES!" i also ran across one that indicated their displeasure at Brits. they would not under any circumstances entertain the thought of living with a fucking Brit. i didn't need any further explanation. i wondered why aussies weren't included. everyone knows aussies are just the dirty removed cousins of brits that nobody gives a shit about so they wrestle alligators and play slaps with venomous cobras to get global attention. "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!! my life isn't worth the living unless you watch me LIVE ON FOX while the poison courses through my veins!!" they should be celebrated though for saving evolution thousands of years of natural selection. hopefully those patient aborigines will take their island back soon and not have to rely on bit parts in crocodile dundee films or "origins of man" specials on discovery. much love to you guys.

well that was random enough. i guess i should resume my days events. hopefully you all are having a lovely weekend. im going to go buy a six pack of cough medicine and enjoy the rest of this good weather since the "bad drugs" would show up on a piss test.
